Akan Country Club is a 27-hole woodland course in Akan, Kushiro, Hokkaido, opened in 1972 and designed by Seizo Tomizawa and Isamu Doi. The three nine-hole courses combine for a par of 108 across a regular yardage of 9,616 yards, extending to 10,619 yards from the back tees. The woodland setting places the course among Hokkaido's forested inland terrain, in the Akan area known for its national park and volcanic lakes. Access by car is via the Akan Interchange on the Doto Expressway. Players use riding carts, available in both two-seater and five-seater configurations, and caddy service is offered on an optional basis. As one of eastern Hokkaido's older clubs, having opened over five decades ago in 1972, Akan Country Club predates much of the golf course construction that followed during Japan's later boom years. The combination of three nine-hole loops gives groups the option to play any pairing for an 18-hole round, with the longer back-tee yardage offering additional length for players seeking a fuller test.
