Oakmont Golf Club opened in 1990 in Yamazoe, Yamabe District, Nara Prefecture, on hilly terrain designed by Jack Nicklaus. The club's three 9-hole courses combine for 27 holes, par 108, with a total yardage of 10,126 yards from the regular tees and 10,671 yards from the back tees. Golfers arriving by train can reach the club from Kintetsu Nabari Station on the Osaka Line, about 15 to 23 minutes away by taxi, with a club bus also available. Drivers can use the Meihan National Route's Kanno-guchi Interchange, roughly 8 kilometers away though not recommended in winter, or the Yamazoe Interchange, about 12 kilometers out. As a Nicklaus design set across hilly ground near the Nara-Mie border, Oakmont gives visiting golfers a chance to play a course laid out by one of the sport's best-known architects.
