Rusutsu Resort Golf 72 River Course / Wood Course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout in Kimobetsu town, Abuta district, Hokkaido, one of four courses that make up the Rusutsu Resort golf complex. The River Course and Wood Course combine here to a total yardage of 6,107 yards over hilly terrain, and the resort was designed by Curtis Strange, opening in 1992. Golfers use self-drive riding carts that seat up to five people, and no caddy service is offered, so rounds proceed at each group's own pace. An onsen bath is available on site, in keeping with the resort's broader hot-spring facilities. As part of a larger four-course property, the River Course and Wood Course combination gives visitors one of several 18-hole pairings available within the same Rusutsu Resort grounds, set in the hilly landscape of southwestern Hokkaido near Mount Yotei. The 1992 opening and Curtis Strange design credit place this course among the resort-era developments built during Hokkaido's major golf construction period.
