How to Book a Tee Time in Japan

A visitor's guide to playing Japan's best courses — without a membership, a member introduction, or a word of Japanese.

Quick answer: The easiest way for a visitor to book golf in Japan is through a licensed English-speaking concierge such as Elite Golf Japan. You choose a course and date in English, we make the reservation in Japanese, and you pay a flat US$30 per golfer only after the tee time is confirmed.

Most of Japan's prestigious courses run Japanese-only reservation systems, and many require a member introduction. We book on your behalf at 36 partner courses across 14 prefectures, and we can request tee times at other courses on your behalf — then handle the Japanese-language reservation, rental clubs, and caddies. Booking carries a US$60 minimum per booking; green fees (about ¥10,000–¥30,000) are paid at the course.

Can a foreign visitor book golf in Japan?

Yes. The obstacle is rarely the rules — it is access. Tee times at top clubs are taken by phone or through Japanese-only websites, guest registration is done in Japanese, and a number of members-only clubs ask for an introduction before they accept an overseas guest.

With a local contact who books on your behalf, none of that touches you. You do not need a membership, a Japanese phone number, or the language. You need someone to make the reservation, complete the paperwork, and be there in English on the day.

Booking, step by step

1

Send your dates, course, and group size

Use the contact form. You do not need to speak Japanese, hold a membership, or even know which course yet. Tell us your travel dates, the number of players, and any preference, and we match you to courses that fit.

2

Get a reply within about 4 hours

Our English-speaking team replies within about 4 hours during business hours (JST 9:00–18:00) with availability and a full price breakdown. Nothing is booked or charged yet.

3

Confirm, and we secure the tee time

You register a card to hold the request (¥0 today). We make the reservation in Japanese and complete the guest paperwork each club requires. The US$30-per-golfer booking fee (minimum US$60 per booking) is charged by Stripe only once your tee time is confirmed. Nothing at all if we cannot secure it.

4

Play: green fees are paid at the course

Rental clubs and caddies are arranged in advance; airport transfers and an on-course English-speaking host are available as options. Green fees are settled at the course on the day, Japan’s standard pay-after-golf system. You arrive and play.

What it costs Green fees, paid at the course Green fees + US$30 per golfer (min US$60), charged only after we secure the tee time

What does it cost?

Two figures. Our booking fee is US$30 per golfer, with a minimum of US$60 per booking, charged only after the tee time is confirmed. Green fees are separate and paid at the course, and typically run about ¥10,000 to ¥30,000 per round depending on the course and whether you play on a weekday or weekend.

A round at most Japanese clubs is a two-part day: the front nine, a sit-down lunch, then the back nine. Green fees, cart, caddie where applicable, and the customary bath are settled at the counter after play. We quote the full figure before you book, so there are no surprises.

Prices as of 2026-08-04; green fees are set by each course and vary by season.
